The Family Bed

I didn’t really plan to be a co-sleeping parent, it just happened organically. As a newborn, both my kids slumber in sleep baskets in the bed with my husband and me. They both transitioned to their own rooms in a crib, after six weeks or so. We read the books and followed the to-do’s of sleep safety like every parent should. It was around four months old when…

Why My Toddler Is Whining

“Mommy. No! That’s teddy’s blanket,” she whines to me. The blanket she is referring to is a striped burp cloth draped over my shoulder, which was indeed Teddy’s blanket last night. “It’s okay honey, Teddy said I could borrow it.” I have to tread lightly with this one because, Teddy is territorial of his belongings. “Noooooooo!” She wails, as the tears start streaming down her face.

Teaching Life Skills With Each #OOTD

My first reaction was, “I can’t let you go in public dressed like a clown.” Then, I remembered a piece of parenting advice I had received, “pick your battles”. Was this a battle I wanted to have each day, or could I learn to let this strong willed child take the wheel? I chose the latter, and can proudly say that my decision was correct. With weather appropriate guidelines, I allowed for my daughter to dress herself.

Closing The Factory

Motherhood, to do or not to do, that is the question. However in my case, it was more like; to cease and desist or keep on keepin on. How does one determine the right time, if ever, to close the factory? This can be a difficult decision to make, but for me it was easier than…

Every year we cause ourselves an abundance of anxiety and shame in setting “resolutions”. Here’s the thing, it’s a new year, but I’m in my 30’s, you’re not getting a new me. Take me or leave me, it doesn’t matter. This year I’m still my fabulous hot mess self. So here’s my list of realistic goals for 2019…
